Classes for beginners and improving paddling skills

Deveron Canoe Club has a fleet of club kayaks and canoes, to help get you started in sea kayaking, kayak surfing, canoe polo, and river paddling in both kayaks and open canoes.

In autumn and winter Banff Swimming Pool is used to train indoors on a Thursday evening; from 7-8pm beginners, from 8-9pm club session and from 9-10pm kayak polo. In spring and summer local outdoor trips are organised every Thursday evening. Longer trips are run at weekends, mainly on Sundays.

Every autumn and winter classes are run for newcomers to the sport. Classes are open to adults and academy age teenagers. Classes run in two blocks of 8 weeks; the first before christmas and the block starting in the new year and are on a Thursday evening from 7-8pm, Banff Swimming Pool. Each lesson will introduce a new skill or element, and gradually this will lead to being competent to paddle on outdoor trips we run. Outdoor trips begin in April, after Easter.

Members and beginners need to join the club. Membership fees are £20 per year for adults. Members receive regular emails about our activities and the canoeing trips we run. Our programmes are listed on our website, but advertised trips do change as weather conditions dictate.
